I first picked up a DSLR in 2001, while a young officer in the US Navy. It was, of course, a film camera, and I had absolutely no idea how to use it. All I knew at the time was that I wanted to try to capture images of some of these places to which the Navy had sent me. What I have from these efforts, today, are a few color slides of images both poorly exposed and poorly focused. Nevertheless, this was the beginning.
For a decade after leaving the Navy, photography fell by the wayside. Then, in 2014, I purchased a digital DSLR, and the ball has been rolling steadily ever since.
In the intervening years I have learned so much, and continue to learn every day.
I hope I am beginning to create images of merit, and I hope ten years from now I've learned so much more that I can scoff at those things I am creating today.
My goals with photography are simple. One, to satisfy an itch to create that I've felt in one way or another my entire life. Two, to create images that you might want to hang in a room in your house, or your office, or really: anywhere at all.
